Ken Horgan – Director of Tennis

The Provincetown Tennis Club is happy to welcome back our  Tennis Director Ken Horgan. Ken is happy to be returning home to Provincetown from Ft. Lauderdale where he spends the winter as a teaching pro at the Pompano Beach Tennis Center. Born and raised in Weymouth, where as a regionally top-ten ranked junior, he played singles for the Weymouth North High School tennis team. Along with tennis, Ken was also a nationally ranked high-school track & field athlete. As a sophomore he was ranked 3rd in the country at the 330 hurdles and won both the prestigious Penn Relays and the Mt.Sac National Invitational. Ken attended The California State University – Northridge on an athletic scholarship where he became known for his on court speed and mental toughness.

Through-out his career Ken continued to compete at both the GLTA & USTA levels with GLTA tour titles in Hawaii, Long Beach, Atlanta and Palm Springs. Ken is also very proud of his two USPTA tournament titles at the 2001 & 2003 Los Angeles Open Doubles Championships. Actively supporting GLBT sports organization including the GLTA and Gay Games Foundation is important to Ken. While in Los Angeles he served on the Board of Directors of the LATA (Los Angeles Tennis Association) and was the Co-Director of both local GLTA tournaments.

As a teaching pro Ken developed his teaching philosophy while studying at the prestigious Sanchez-Casal Tennis Academy. Ken is excited to return to the Club for his fourth season and to lead an exciting new season of tennis activities including clinics, lessons, social events and tournaments for our members this season.
